A stunning collection of live action photos published in a high quality book
Packed with terrific colour images shot on the world’s biggest festivals and stadium gigs, this book conveys the excitement, energy and beauty of the drummers art…….each drummers personality comes across so powerfully that your ears are practically ringing from the moment you turn the first page.
Tim Slater, Playmusic Pick-up review, Feb 11
Phillips has done an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere of capturing the atmosphere of the gigs and the spirit and vibe of these diverse drummers.
Drummer Magazine, March 11
This colorful volume weighs in at over 2 pounds is about a foot wide, 10 inches high, with its 157 pages adding up to a little over a half-an-inch thick. You definitely do not want to be hit in the head with this thing! ….for drummers I am almost willing to say that this book is a must-have. If you’re a notch or two beyond a drummer and are a no-holes-barred drum fanatic, I would say that you need this book in your collection.

Just to let you know that your fantastic book arrived for Christmas. My son Jack is absolutely thrilled with it and every day I find him looking at it and using it to look up facts about the drummers he is unfamiliar with. The photographs are stunning, and we both have our favourites. Once again, congratulations on your wonderful book

Dave what a book fella! Top dollar on this, what a wonderful piece of work.
Thank you so much for this, what a lovely book to have as a drummer….really mate well done!!
You have summed up the last 10/15 years of drumming for me in this.
Mark DeCloedt, EMF Drummer/ Pearl UK A&R Manager
Pretty much every music fan has sat and wondered what it must be like to look out from a stage at a packed crowd hanging on your every move. Well wonder no more as David Phillips’ newly released book ‘A Drummer's Perspective’ gives you the best view in the house.
As a drummer I found this book both interesting and inspiring but it’s something that all music fans will appreciate. In the book's sleeve notes Phillips says, ‘I want to put drummers in the spotlight and offer a photographic celebration of the world of drumming’, he has certainly done that and then some.

Shooting from above, below, beside and behind the drummer or the drummer’s kit, Phillips captured intense action and telling facial expressions. Drum junkies, get ready for some candy! Percussive Notes, Jul11

Jen Walker, Rocksound magazine, March 11
It is often said that drummers have the best seat in the house. This coffee table collection of more thank 100 drummers-eye view photos taken over years by photographer Dave Phillips proves it….the images are top notch and give the kind of close insight into some of the world’s finest drummers and their set-ups that many people can only dream of.

Jacek Pelc, Former Editor, Top Drummer magazine, Poland
There are a couple of large format ‘coffee table’ style photographic books celebrating the role of the drummer on the market right now, I was lucky enough to be able to sample both of them over the Christmas period, both books are around the same price and packed with interesting pictures of drummers but it’s the one I have chosen to write about here which really stood head and shoulders above its rival.
It’s a terrific book, interesting, beautifully presented and well worth a look for £29.99

Buch Des Monats:
Für jeden Fan von Drummern und Drums (sind wir das nicht alle?) ist David Phillips’, “A Drummer’s Perspective” ein absoluter “must have”-bild-band der Extraklasse
Sticks Magazine (Germany) Feb 11
Whilst obviously appealing to the drummer community this is a book that gives anyone passionate about bands and rock music a special take on the ‘view from the back of the stage’. And it’s good value at £29.99 RRP – little more than the price of three pairs of drumsticks!

“It’s not strictly interesting to drummers though, anyone with an interest in music and photography might like this book. In short, a very nice book to look at”
